Allison (Metcalf) Allen graduated as an Andrew Carnegie Society Scholar from the prestigious acting program at Carnegie Mellon University. From there she soon landed on Broadway in the revival of Grease, where she stayed for nearly two years, completing 650 performances with the show.  She has since performed with Women of Faith as their dramatist for the past three years. During Women of Faith’s 2009 “Grand New Day” conference, she performed her original one-woman dramas for hundreds of thousands of women in arenas around the country.

As an acting/media coach, Allison has worked with personalities such as Niki Taylor, CeCe Winans, Scott Hamilton, as well as NBA and NFL athletes. For several years, Allison enjoyed assisting collegiate performers as an adjunct faculty member at Nashville’s Belmont University in the theatre department. Currently, she loves weaving Biblical teaching and acting pieces together in unexpected ways, and has been honored to teach/perform at Saddleback Church, Recreate, as well as Campus Crusade’s US Staff Conference, among others.

Off-stage, Allison has spent a good deal of time writing the stories of characters who find themselves between a rock and a hard place spiritually, and the Christ who specializes in just such tight spots. Magdalene, a fully realized musical theatre piece, was written by Allison while a student at Carnegie Mellon University and was picked up again for completion in 2005. Allison is the author of the book (story and dialogue) and co-writer of the music along with Chris Eaton (“Breath of Heaven”) and Michele Pillar. The musical’s inaugural production featured Jordin Sparks of American Idol in its cast. Magdalene has been produced to acclaim in theatres from Florida to California.

Allison is now working on a new story—a novel entitled The Magdalenes, to be published by Windblown Media in the fall of 2011.

On a personal note, Allison gardens at midnight and is married to a good and handsome man with whom she can wear heels. This is no small feat, as Allison resides somewhere around 5’12”. Jonathan is the worship pastor at Grace Chapel in Brentwood, Tennessee. They live in the Nashville, Tennessee area with their son, Levi.
